Hello, I'm Michael D. Peacock , CEO & President of Southwest Business Development Consultants, LLC. My entire business life has been dedicated to serving American Indian & Minority-owned businesses. My passion is to be an inspiration, role model and mentor to our local youth and communities in building self-sufficiency and empowerment. I am an enrolled tribal member of the Pueblo of Laguna (New Mexico) and I possesses a B.B.A. Degree from the College of Santa Fe with concentrations in Accounting and Business Management. I ams also a 2008 Graduate of Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth – Building a High-Performing Minority Business – MBDA Partnership Program.
I am proud to say that I possess 35+ years of experience in providing comprehensive business, community, and economic development services to individuals, businesses, organizations and tribes throughout New Mexico and the United States through my past and current affiliations with the New Mexico Native American Business Development Center and the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development – Native American Business Consultant Program, Management Consulting Services Program and Marketing & Procurement Services Program.
In addition, I have served over the years on numerous boards, associations and committees throughout Indian Country to include: Laguna Commercial Enterprise Board of Directors, San Ildefonso Pueblo Enterprise Corporation Board of Directors, Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute Business Advisory Member, Native American Finance Officers Association Member, American Indian Chamber of Commerce of New Mexico Board of Directors, University of New Mexico-Institute of Public Law-Project Change Fair Lending Center Advisory Member, Northwest New Mexico Community Development Corporation – Micro Enterprise Lending Team Advisory Member, and the UNM – Anderson School of Management, American Indian Business Association Mentor/Protége Program.
In my early years I served as Executive Director of the New Mexico Native American Business Enterprise Center from 1991-2001 and from 2007-2018, I possessed a role as the Associate Director for the MBDA Business Center (American Indian/Alaska Native Program), which was funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce-Minority Business Development Agency and operated by the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of New Mexico.
