Michael D. Peacock has dedicated his career to strengthening Native American & Indigenous businesses and tribal communities through business development, economic strategy, strategic investment, and culturally grounded leadership. Guided by a deep commitment to service and mentorship, he brings more than three decades of experience advancing long-term, community-driven economic self-sufficiency for Indigenous and underserved communities.
In 1999, Mr. Peacock founded Southwest Business Development Consultants, LLC, establishing a firm dedicated to advancing economic opportunity for Indigenous- and minority-owned businesses. Under his leadership, the organization has become a nationally recognized force in business, community, economic, and tourism development, as well as strategic investment.
In 2019, Southwest Business Development Consultants, LLC, under Mr. Peacock’s visionary leadership, was awarded a $2 million multi-year grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). This award launched the Four Winds Diversified (FWD) Project, a transformative initiative delivering business training, access to capital, contracting support, strategic partnerships, and job creation. The FWD Project served American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and minority-owned businesses across rural reservations and underserved communities throughout the Southwest and nationwide. Over six years, the FWD Project has generated significant, measurable impact:
• More than 300 minority business enterprises served
• Over $510 million in contracts and capital secured
• 3,310 new jobs created
• A 350%+ return on investment for the MBDA
In 2014, Mr. Peacock founded Go Weh Yaza, LLC, a Native American–owned joint venture established to meet the growing demand for culturally informed, high-quality institutional food service management. The company serves tribal educational institutions, federal agencies, and U.S. military installations. Under his leadership, Go Weh Yaza emphasizes operational excellence, cultural sensitivity, and value, while expanding opportunities for Native-owned enterprises within institutional food services.
On April 1st, 2022, Albuquerque Business First recognized Mr. Peacock in its “New Mexicans to Know” series. From 2017 through 2025, Southwest Business Development Consultants, LLC and Go Weh Yaza, LLC have ranked among the Top Ten Indigenous-Owned Businesses in New Mexico by revenue, reaching as high as #2 statewide.
Mr. Peacock holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Business Management from the College of Santa Fe and is a graduate of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth - Minority Business Development Agency - Partnership Program. A proud member of the Pueblo of Laguna and of Cayuga, Seneca, and Mohawk descent, he remains steadfast in his mission to advance economic opportunity, sovereignty, and lasting prosperity for Indigenous communities nationwide.
